It’s a “Stump the Pastor” Summer!

Armadale_Castle_-_tree_stumpThis summer, Pastor Chad will be answering your toughest questions about the Bible and Christian living.  Feel free to submit your questions to collegestreetbc@gmail.com, or bring them to a Sunday service.  From week to week, we could be looking at what the Bible has to say about alcohol, giants, creation, Heaven, textual variants, and that’s just to name a few.  If there is something you wanted to know about what the Bible teaches, this is the summer to ask!

In a comfortable bible study atmosphere we will share coffee, snacks, and Christian conversation on some of the toughest topics we as believers have to face.

We will be studying these tough questions together in our Wednesday Night Bible Study @ 6:30pm each Wednesday.  Come join us!

Our first Wednesday is this week, April 30th!

Man Up @ 7:00am March 13th!

ManupMen out there, I’m talking to you.  Are you missing something?  Do you often feel aimless in your home?  Do you think that you should be doing more to lead your wife, to love your kids, and to serve your church, but you’re not sure what?

Then this is for you.  Come meet with other men who have the same desire to fulfill God’s will for their lives in their marriages, families, jobs, and churches.  We will be learning from A Guide to Biblical Manhood, which looks at men in the Bible as practical examples for our lives.  We will be looking at baseball as a metaphor for life, how to serve our wives, and how to lead in the church.

Good Coffee, pancakes, and the Bible.  Stack ’em up and you’ve got a good start to your day.

Let’s do this.

We will be meeting at 2209 Evans Circle (Prof. Lawrimore’s house)

Christmas Sermon Series: Jesus Was Born

xmas2013splash2We will spend this Christmas season meditating on the most basic, yet most profound, truth of Jesus’ Birthday:

Jesus Was Born

It is a truth we as Christians gloss over without a second thought, yet in this three-word statement is contained a paradox: God became Man!  How can there be a God-Man?  These four Sundays of December, we will investigate the whole breadth of Scripture, and we will see that at the center of the Bible lies this Christ Jesus, the one born on Christmas.

Each sermon will center on the life of Jesus as narrated in the Gospel accounts, with one Old Testament and one New Testament passage acting as “arrows” pointing to Christ the Center.

We look forward to seeing you, and have a Merry Christmas!

Week 1: Jesus Was Born

Genesis 1:1-5→John 1:1-5,14←Philippians 2:6-7

Week 2: Jesus Was Born of a Woman

Genesis 3:15→Luke 2:1-7←Galatians 4:4-5

Week 3: Jesus Was Born into a Barren World

Genesis 11:30; 25:21; 29:31→Luke 1:31-38←Galatians 4:27-28

Week 4: Jesus Was Born to Die

Genesis 22:1-2, 9-14→Matthew 1:20-21←1 John 4:9-10

Prayer @ 7:00am July 1st

Monday, July 1st at 7:00am

In 1784, John Sutcliff attached a notice to the Circular Letter to the churches of the Northamptonshire Baptist Association calling them to prayer on the first Monday of every month that God would grant revival to their communities and that God would “spread the gospel to the most distant parts of the habitable globe”.  In response to their years of faithful prayer, God used a man named William Carey whose efforts in India as a missionary began the modern missions movement.

It is our desire as a church to follow in the footsteps of men like John Ryland, Jr. (pastor of, all things, College Street Baptist Church in Northampton, England), Andrew Fuller, and John Sutcliff who prayed faithfully for God’s Kingdom to expand.  All Christians within driving distance of Newberry are welcome to join us.

John Sutcliff has put it so well: “Surely we have love enough for Zion to set apart one hour at a time, twelve times in a year, to seek her welfare.”

See you on Monday morning!

Easter Egg Hunt 2013 Photos

We had such a great time with the families from the community at our Easter Egg Hunt.  We were also so excited to see some of them back with us on Easter Sunday.  Here at College Street, we aren’t all about Easter eggs, and we certainly aren’t all about spreading Easter eggs!  However, we love our kids, and we want to show love to the children of our community.  We kicked off our Children’s Sunday School program this Sunday, and we are excited to continue to teach, love, and share the gospel with the young ones in our community.
